Today was my last day at the market. It sure was weird saying goodbye to everyone. I met a lot of really interesting people, some of which were even valuable business contacts, such as Sean E. Bravo, who is a body artist for a living, and Dotsy the Clown, whom I may be working with this school year. I also got to try a new type of facepaint called Snazeroo (which I am still getting used to, but I'm starting to like a lot). While the market wasn't all that lucrative financially, I'm still glad I went out on a limb and tried something new, because what I really earned was a great experience.
I might decide to continue Bev's Beads at more markets, like in Windsor where there are more people with disposable income. I am definitely going to expand my inventory! Perhaps I will even move past beads, and when I do it will cause me some problems: I'll have to redo my banner, business cards, website, almost everything. Oh well, that's the way it goes I guess.
The facepainting I know I will be continuing, most likely only as Dotsy's apprentice... for now. Who knows, maybe I will even start my own body art company like Sean!
I may be continuing to return to Chatham to facepaint at community events. That will also give me an opportunity to visit people I know here.
Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to it. No matter what direction Bev's Beads takes, it's sure to grow.

So we had our first market on Saturday -- man, was that an experience! On the bright side, we met all sorts of people, made some good sales, and also picked up some groceries... Mind you, when it got not-so-bright, it started to rain, and we were not prepared! Little did we know, there was a mishap with the delivery of canopies for the tables, so instead we were alloted umbrellas which, because they went straight through the table, our display was not prepared to accomodate! Thanks to a few of the set-up volunteers, we managed to get an unused produce canopy which really saved the day! I'm contemplating cutting an umbrella hole for the next market, but I really don't want to ruin my banner and tablecloth that I put so much effort into. Decisions, decisions!

Only 14 more days untill the market, and I've reached my goal of making 40 of everything. I made the table cloth and my display is looking pretty good. I might tweak it a little bit still before the market. For example, I made some wacky little stuffed animals named Tundra Bill, Beluga, and Roasty who might end up being models for some of my work. I also need to print out some business cards before the market. I'd better hurry, because it seems to be coming up really fast!!

Bev’s Beads is just getting started for the Chatham Farmers' Market. I’ve put together some sample pieces, done the paper work and submitted photos to apply as a vendor. I am really excited!! I plan on beginning the market with at least 40 necklaces, but I am going to make as many as I can. As soon as I get a reply from the market committee I am going to start putting together stuff for the booth -- a sign, table cloth, and figure out what my displays are going to look like. Trixie, the household cat, seems to really be enjoying helping me make necklaces- she keeps chasing the strings! I might start looking for some other models to do product shots with, I think I would be able to do some stuff that’s a little more creative with more people to help.
